2014 Shiraz ‘NAS’ 375ml

The biologically farmed Syme on Yarra Vineyard is located on the Gruyere – Seville East border in Victoria. The ‘Glory’ part of the vineyard is located in Seville East and was planted in 1998 to shiraz, on its own rootstock. It sits at about 100m above sea level on a very slight south-west facing slope. With a clay loam top soil, it is supported by heavy clay subsoil.

The fruit was hand harvested 26 March and proffered small, firm berries with very good colour and even bunch sizes. Hand picked and sorted, mainly destemmed fruit with 20% whole bunches. Gentle pumping over initially with an ambient yeast ferment and 35 days on skins. Hand plunged. Pressed off to a mixture of old oak and one new French 300L barrel. Aged for 14 months with no added sulphur. Bottled unfined & unfiltered August 2015.

Tasting Note

This bright, dense purple coloured 2014 exhibits bright, lifted plum and dark berry aromas with underlying spice and earthy tones. Medium bodied, fragrant and textural, a wonderful example of cool climate Yarra Valley shiraz. Beautifully balanced, detailed & delicious, this wine has no additions what so ever and bottled in a convenient 375ml format.
